@abc7chicago: A Nebraska man warned of icy surfaces on Saturday, January 4, as he shared video showing him slipping on his porch and tumbling down steps as he exited his home in Kearney that morning. In the video, Turner Kucera can be heard chuckling and saying “God dang it” as he slides down the steps, before getting back on his feet uninjured. “It’s icy out!!!” Kucera wrote in a post on X. Kearney Police said they were in touch with city, county, and state authorities as “freezing precipitation moves in the area” and that road crews were “focusing on elevated surfaces, snow routes, and main roadways with salt and sanders.” They advised people to “stay home, unless essential” and to move over on roads for police or plow trucks. The National Weather Service said a “complex storm system” was impacting central and southern parts of the state, “with varying precipitation types and impacts at varying times,” and warned of “slippery roads” and snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches by Sunday evening.
