I’m in Raleigh, umstead is cool for a local park as well as schenck park nearby it, in the mountains mount mitchell for sure and then rough ridge overlook near Boone / blowing rock on the parkway

NC Triad here! I second Grandfather Mt (but make a plan depending on what route you plan to hike.) I'd also recommend Grayson Highlands State Park, Linville Gorge trails, Linville Falls, Rough Ridge..

Pilot Mountain during the Hawk migration is really cool! I would recommend going back then 🥰 Also the Flower Gap Trail has really nice 365 views

From NC. My top are Grayson highlands in VA, Paradise falls during the summer, and the Chimneys in Linville gorge (although the table rock parking lot to access is closed for winter rn)

I love hanging rock. It’s one of the first place I recommend to folks because it’s a very good beginner hike! You can also do the loop around the park to the top as well but I recommend that for intermediate hikers.

Linville Gorge above Lake James is beautiful. Many trails to hike in Linville Wilderness area. Views up there are amazing.
