It used to be a running joke that no one in NY drove because transit was good. Now everyone complains that the city isn't driveable. We NEED less cars and better transit. We just distrust the systems.

Part of the issue is that except for the Brooklyn bridge, in order to cross onto FDR drive or west side highway, you must enter local streets, so you will get charged.

I’m coming from queens to Harlem where I work in a public school. I use the queensborough bridge to go in for free and but have to pay to get on the bridge to come home for 2 blocks. 1/
