While searching his home, officials found a handgun and ammunition that matched the brand of the bullets at the crime scene, according to the Washington Post. Eaton is accused of opening fire on three 20-year-old students: Hisham Awartani of Brown University, Kinnan Abdalhamid of Haverford College, and Tahseen Ali Ahmad of Trinity College. They were reportedly visiting one of the men's relatives for Thanksgiving. Two of the three victims were wearing keffiyehs, Palestinian scarves that serve as a symbol of resistance. As of Nov 26, authorities said two of the men were in stable condition, while the third had sustained more serious injuries. According to Rania Maayeh — head of Ramallah Friends School in the West Bank, which the three attended together — Awartani was shot in the spine. 'We are praying that he can walk,' she said. U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said an investigation is underway to determine whether the attack was a #hatecrime. 'We are extremely concerned about the safety and well-being of our children,' the families of the men said in a statement shared by the Institute for Middle East Understanding on X, formerly known as Twitter.
