⚠️ Find the magic mailbox; but avoid…👇 It’s day 5 of my Jan challenge to hike 31 different trails, at least 100 miles, and make a donation valued at $50,000 to Kesem. Your engagement matters - follow @outdoorwiseliving and share this with a friend! The ‘rules’: 1. Provide you with a detailed trail guide 2. Min. hiking distance = follower count (TikTok + IG)/ 50 / 2.666 ft/step 3. Share a different hike daily: 31 total for January Trail recap: 1. Day 1: ‘Great Wall of China’ Hike 2. Day 2: ‘Planet of the Apes’ beach spot 3. Day 3: The Biggest tide pool 4. Day 4: Secret Cave in Point Lobos Your trail guide to explore here: 🥾 There’s no AllTrails for this route, so let me explain: 1. Head north on HWY from the GPS coordinates below (this is near Carmel 2. At 0.2 miles, turn left (just beyond the Bay School). 3. Take the Carmelo Trail another 0.3 miles and go up the stairs on your right 4. At 0.7 miles, go left down the stairs (just before the street) 5. Go straight 0.9 miles, past the Carmel River, and up the stairs on the right. The mailbox will be there. It’s a magic box in which locals and travelers alike leave their hopes and dreams in journals. 6. Reverse by staying on the beach if you’re an explorer. If you find my note (2025 book), you’ll find hints to two more secret spots nearby. Alternative: Go to the Carmel River State Beach parking lot and walk right. However, there are very few parking spots here. 🅿️: Free on HWY 1: (36.5244193, -121.9248349) ‼️: Do this at low tide only. The tide returned when I was coming back, and I had to get a little wet crossing the Carmel River on my return. ⚠️: Do not go on the beach side return if the surf is dangerous. 🚽: Facilities at the beach 🐕: Yes on leash. ♿️: I don’t recommend 🌞: Mostly exposed 🗑️: Always leave no trace My mileage goals and stats - Total Jan hikes: 5 - Total mileage: 20.3 #hiddencalifornia #visitcalifornia #carmelbythesea #carmelbytheseacalifornia #carmelriverbeach #carmelvalley #carmelcalifornia #montereybay #montereybayarea #californiahiking #californiacoast #californiadogs #californiadog #bayareadogs #hikingblogger #hikecalifornia #californiahiking #hiddengem #hiddengems #Hiking
