basically what happened was that the hijackers wanted them to fly to Australia, but the actual flight was a short flight and they didn't have enough fuel to go there. Mr. abate kept telling them that they didn't have enough fuel, but the hijackers didn't believe him. the hijackers new that they had to turn because there original flight path wasn't in line with Australia, so Mr abate turned, but he turned slightly more then it would have been to get to Australia, he was going to go to a closer island and try land there. (can't remember the name) when he was getting closer to the island he ran out of fuel. he had to land in the ocean. he managed to land the plane, but a few people died, him and his copilot survived although all the hijackers and a few passengers didn't. rescue services came quick enough to save most of the people aboard. hope this helps :)
