I want kids who are struggling to see someone standing in front of them who still struggles, but has also found ways to turn some of those differences into strengths. I wrote a book called wildboy about My walk around New Zealand, my story was also turned into a School Journal that’s part of the New Zealand curriculum, so heaps of kids have already read my story before I even walk into the room. ADHD is so multifaceted and still affects almost every part of my life. Not just starting tasks or staying organised. Managing emotions, regulating myself, keeping life in balance, controlling where my attention goes… all of it can be incredibly hard. Sometimes it feels like I’ve got this ridiculous superpower, except I don’t really control where it points. My brain locks onto something and I just come along for the ride. Occasionally I get to steer it. A lot of the time, I don’t. Walking around New Zealand was one of those rare times where the way my brain works really suited the environment. Every day was new, physical, unpredictable and full of problems to solve. That’s why I love adventure and a big part of why I keep going into schools. School is important, but it is just one part of your life. It doesn’t get to decide what you’re capable of. #ADHD #ADHDAwareness #Neurodiversity #YouthInspiration #PositiveRoleModel
