You dont have to. I own a V50 T5 (basically the same engine but turbocharged). Ive removed the intake dozens of times, it just takes some patience and maneuvering. Up and to the right.

this is a newer volvo so its a ford I think. older volvos have so much space near engine

my Volvos always had the airbox to the left or right and never had to do anything but remove the screws on the box mounts. so is that a countryspecific thing or some odd model they've tried? 🤷♂️

Oh don't get me started on Volvo, to change the oil filter on a XC60 T6 3.0 turbo. You have to take off your headlights just to access the oil filter. THE OIL FILTER!

on Skoda octavia 1 gen, in order to change the spark plugs you have to disassemble half the engine :)
