@wildcorwin: Enjoyed my intriguing conversation @Joe Vulpis on the creation of our National Parks. It all began with an incredible painting and series of sketches by artist Thomas Moran in 1872 from Yellowstone. The stunning artwork convinced the 42nd Congress and President Ulysses S Grant to create our first National Park, Yellowstone! Eventually, president Teddy Roosevelt would drive the mission, fueled from the explorations of naturalists like John Muir and Aldo Leopold! The @National Park Service is our greatest treasure in America, belonging to all of us. NPs protect our countries most remarkable wild landscapes, and incredible creatures, while being the first truly integrated national recreational experience, building the deep bond that we all have to nature, and ensuring our shared wild legacy thrives for generations to come! #nationalparks #nature #wildlife #conservation #animals #legacy #environment #stewardship
