I know too many doctors who have immigrated to Canada who can’t practice here. I would understand a short course to learn the difference in policies and such, but the way it is now is absurd.

I immigrated 11 years ago. I finally have a career that I like and I’m currently practicing, same situation with my husband. And we still feel that we can’t progress much bc the salaries are a slap(1)

I immigrated here from the US and had to take an English test. I also had to have my university degree translated into Canadian English. I also needed a lawyer to figure out the PR application.

when I worked at Tim Hortons, I supervised a Chemical Engineer and a Surgeon. it was too expensive for them to do the bridging to practice in Canada

This has always been the case. Immigrants today have way too high expectations of Canada. It takes up to seven years on average to integrate at approximately the same level you left in your country

Way way too many and most are unvetted! Immigration is fine but slow and measured vetted and carefully selected. Independent financially, mentally physically sound, young, and bring something to the table

When I was a hiring manager I saw examples of this on a lot of the resumes I was looking at from immigrants. They would have extensive experience and educational backgrounds for areas like engendering
