@mirrorimagek9: When it comes to social skills, there’s nothing more valuable for a puppy than to be told “no” from another dog in a fair and balanced way. Kemper never corrects Maverick for anything that isn’t worthy of a correction. He never goes too hard and needs to be pulled off. He leaves enough room for Maverick to find a pathway to a healthy interaction and doesn’t just cut him off. But he makes it clear that there’s rules to be followed if Maverick wants to continue the conversation. I see SO MANY people socializing their puppies by allowing them to play with other wild puppies that never tell them no. All we’re doing there is teaching them that all dogs are going to always want to play at really high levels of excitement and we’re completely skipping over teaching neutrality and impulse control.
