He’s probably telling the truth. Big tech does pay that range, and if you listen closely he’s also right that you can be self taught without any college and still earn that salary as an engineer.

Ppl not believing his salary forget that 3-4 yrs experience makes him a 2021 grad when ppl were getting hired from boot camps. With a GT education and proper results 500k WAS achievable.

I make about 500k in tech too. But I was lucky to have graduated during a good economy and chose to grind. Not sure I could do it starting again in todays tech economy.

That level of comp is pretty rare especially at that experience level. I’m guessing he’s including equity that maybe hasn’t vested yet and/or has popped up a huge amount since the grant.
