@cbsnews: Los Angeles officials say the municipal water systems that service homes and businesses are “not designed to fight wildfires.” “A firefight with multiple fire hydrants drawing from the system is unsustainable … That’s why air support is so critical to the firefight and unfortunately, wind and air visibility have prevented that support." #water #fire #southerncalifornia #california #losangeles #losangelescounty
I always see a interpreter and I think “I wonder if they’re lying like that one girl” 😭

Man. If only they had a large body of water near them that pumps could continue to provide water to hydrants…..

Most water systems aren’t designed, for a continues draw from several hydrants for hours. People have no clue on just how much water that is. It would be like several major leaks all at once.

It’s sad that people just jump to conclusions and spread insane theories instead of seeking what can easily be known here

Weird that homes haven’t been designed like they do in Australia with water systems on roofs to help keep fires away.

Biggest egregious miss management in history. The mayor and the city manager and public works director should be fired immediately.

The other problem is those winds are crazy. They need water canons positioned thoughout those canyons.

I mean considering there’s not water in a lot of the hydrants I’d say that’s pretty obvious at this point

just a simple question but don't they have water drafting operations and tenders in that area to help shuttle water for fighting fire?

Think they would have built more resivours over the years instead of most of it goes back into the ocean.

What is the ISO rating for this city? Fire flow from hydrants is part of that. For instance an ISO 1 rating requires flow of 1500 GPM at 20 psi

After Maui, you might think adjustments and new plans would have been made for every Fire Dept regardless of location.

water alone couldn't fight it w those winds. Up North the planes do the most work unless winds are too high.

If pron to Wildlife looks like they would have already implemented a system to have more water supply in case of fires 🤔 , years ago

Backflow prevention will keep bad water from getting into lines with pumps start drawing water from places other than a clean source…
