That’s crazy!! If it’s failing now then just wait until summer.. and 8 years ago I built a high end home and the siding kept melting on a section. It was from the sun magnifying from a window .

That’s royal premium siding , and it was installed with not enough of gap between joints , you need at least one inch gap on premium, it gets very hot in Alberta ,so lots of expansion

Never would I use vinyl siding. I have aluminum, which I know is outdated but I never have issues with it.
