i was a freshman in fall 2019 when there was that wildfire we could see from or dorms. ucla said nothing until the last minute and it was midterms week so we took exams while ash fell from the sky 💀

Rule of thumb, always leave when there’s something dangerous happening, even if it’s a state away. It’s best to leave early and risk wasting money than leaving too late and losing your life.

So glad you evacuated. They also failed us back in 2017 when bel air was on fire. It was finals week so they didn’t want to cancel classes

See I learned better than to trust my college as someone who had to evacuate less than 24 hours before Ian, Category 4, hurricane hit my area. Said we were safe, left to the store, come back and mandatory evacuation! Always trust your gut over a university’s.

fires are unpredictable Id say once the areas around u get a evacuation warning that's when u should go and UCLA shouldn't have said y'all were safe considering how fast this has spread

This definitely isn’t a first for UCLA. I was there in Fall 2017 when classes and finals had to be cancelled because of the fires in Mandeville Canyon.
