Nope :
Stop recording from your parent house. Insurance is a business. Would you take a client if there was a 95% chance you would lose money? The answer is no. Sit down clown.

A lot of people on here including Tommy don’t understand what happened. You need to look at the CA DOI. When they don’t allow a company to match price to risk you can’t do business there.

Cancellations aren’t that simple. California regulators had a lot to do with it. In any case, if you get canceled, you get other insurance. There is no obligation to ensure

State law requires the insurance company to send the policy holder way in advance there poooct will not be renewed. So if those people didn’t look elsewhere that’s on them!!

The state limited the ability of insurance companies to charge a sufficient premium to adequately price the risk. As a result, the insurance companies did the only logical thing to avoid going under.

A non-renewed the policies when they came up for renewal. The reason being the insurance commissioner for the state of California has not allowed rate increases for multiple years so the insurance

Insurance should at least pay back all the premiums they have collected from the policies before canceling them. They build up their wallet over the years and now they decided to quit on their

Shouldn’t these cancellations have been huge red flags for the homeowners and government? This event was apparently predictable and worsening. But no one tried to make a change.

So how do we fix the problem? What's the solution? Insurance Companies are crooked, I agree 100%, but what is the solution and how do we fix it in a timely fashion?

If my car insurance gets cancelled cause they think I’m a risk to them losing money I’d find another insurer. Don’t they have a right to do what they want. But the months I pay I’m insured.

The problem is that the math doesn’t add. Premiums are as low as 2k a month. How does any one thinks to be compensated for a 500k house. 2000*30 years, equals to 60k. Is all a scam.

It’s not just fire insurance. I’m in central cal in an area that can be heavily impacted if a dam were to break. Insurance dropped flood coverage from everyone here and partially covers earthquake.

I’m not a fan of the insurance industry. But he claims to be an expert and yet he doesn’t understand that an entity can’t pay for damages outlined in an insurance agreement if they don’t have the resources. If an insurance company has a million dollars in reserve and they are covering 2 million in assets that get destroyed, how do they pay? Do the math.

In 2023 the combined ratio for homeowners insurance nationwide (all insurance companies) was 1.08; this means for every $1.00 they collected in premium they paid our $1.08 in claims.

the state should require insurers who want to exit the market to rebate a portion of thr premiums to long standing policyholders that aree being dropped through no fault of their own.

The question is… “Why “? Why all of a sudden after so many years of them getting money from people would they cancel a policy for absolutely no reason when they could continue getting money from them?

The insurer has the right to cancel the policy, just as the customer has the right to go purchase a new policy from another carrier, why did they not just go get a new policy?
