I don't think I can ever recall seeing
I don't think I can ever recall seeing "can I ask what your wife does for a living" when a man is talking about money/investing/growing your wealth. The even worse part is I don't even think some people realize what they're doing. It's subconscious. These comments stem from deeply ingrained societal norms that have historically placed men in the role of financial provider. When someone asks what my husband does for a living, it's a reflection of these outdated beliefs. It's a way of subconsciously reaffirming the idea that a woman couldn't possibly achieve financial success on her own. But here's the thing: these comments are harmful. They undermine the accomplishments and hard work of women, perpetuating the myth that we can't be successful without a man's help. This mindset not only diminishes the achievements of women but also reinforces the barriers we face in the financial world. Every time someone asks me what my husband does, they're sending a message that a woman's financial success is somehow less legitimate or impressive. This can be discouraging and disempowering, making it harder for women to feel confident in their financial decisions and pursuits. That is the OPPOSITE of what I'm trying to achieve here, which is motivate and inspire women to take control of their money so they can be in control of their lives. I've hustled, learned, invested, and made strategic decisions to get to where I am today. And guess what? I’m proud to say that I retired my husband, not the other way around. So the next time you feel the urge to ask a woman what her husband does, take a moment to reflect. Would you ask the same of a man? If not, it's time to rethink those subconscious biases. Women can be, and are, financial powerhouses on their own. Let's celebrate that instead of questioning it.
