Yup. I did a report on Women in Prison in college and visited the prison in my state for it. Most of the women in there were for drugs or fraud to get the drugs because they had been SA’d as children.

Or related to poverty. I look like I have a long record. They are all crimes of poverty. Which like, I get it, they’re laws, but that’s wild.

Possession for ingestion is WILD! I really hope they took that law off the books. They can’t even prove you knowingly ingested the drug, that’s an unjust law.

You never leave the system. Once they have you, they have you. No matter what you do or how hard you try to change your life. This has to change in our system if we want better outcomes.

this is a great explanation of how screwed up the "justice" system is. you cannot punish your way out of addiction. it's the same in the UK and getting progressively worse.

My dad is in that cycle too he’s been a jail bird since he was young. I didn’t grow up with him but It’s sad to watch
