@profahmedhankir: #adhd #attentiondeficithyperactivitydisorder #guanfacine #adhdmedication Guanfacine is what we call an alpha adrenergic agonist so it works by exerting its effects on the alpha adrenaline receptors which are involved in regulating the body’s blood pressure. Guanfacine is therefore used in the treatment of hypertension or high blood pressure. However, Guanfacine is also used in the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in both children and adults and as an off-label drug in the treatment of tic disorders and anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety disorder and PTSD. Guanfacine can be used both as monotherapy so by itself or as adjunctive therapy so as an add on medication to stimulants such as amphetamines and methylphenidate. As an add on medication Guanfacine can also help to control the side effect profile of stimulant medications. Guanfacin can be taken twice a day in the immediate release form or once a day in the extended release form.
We tried Guanfacine forever with my autistic/ADHD child (6) she didn’t have any side effects however the older she got the worse her ADHD got we switched to clonidine extended release and it was a miracle drug

Yeah but the side effects for me are lowk not worth it. Every time I stand up I get extremely dizzy and sometimes faint obvs I drink enough water and eat enough. It makes my nightmares less frequent but 100x worse and super irritable

What does it mean if i take it and it keeps me awake? Even if im tired. Second night of taking it, i was waking up every hour, pacing my bedroom looking through drawers. Felt like I was losing it.
