Pour la première fois, il a permis d'observer de minuscules tourbillons de plasma à la surface de cette gigantesque étoile. S'ils paraissent minuscules à l'échelle du Soleil, ces vortex peuvent atteindre jusqu'à 170 kilomètres de diamètre. Cette découverte pourrait résoudre l'un des plus grands mystères du Soleil : pourquoi son atmosphère est bien plus chaude que sa surface.
