@missclairebenjamin: 🚨Handling shady moves👇 When someone behaves in a way that’s sly and underhand it can be difficult to know how best to deal with it. Because it’s sly it may not be obvious to others making it even more difficult to handle. We may be tempted to handle it in quite an accusatory way but this is unlikely to result in a good outcome and the purpose of a conversation like this is to put a stop to the behaviour. I would recommend the following: 1️⃣ Approach it calmly and respectfully (you don’t need to match their energy) 2️⃣ Lead with curiosity 3️⃣ Share what you’re observing and how this is coming across to you. Let them know you hope you are misunderstanding and why. This could sound like: “Based on what I’ve observed, it seems that [INSERT] may have influenced your decision. I hope I’m misunderstanding because [INSERT]” Remember calling out someone’s behaviour respectfully can be enough to make them think twice about doing it again. 💬 Have you ever been in a situation like this? Share your experiences in the comments 👀 📌 Please remember the advice offered in this video is generalised and intended for guidance purposes only. It will not fit every situation so please use your own judgment based on your own unique situation. You’ve got this 💪 💾 Save this for when you might need it ✈️ Share with someone who you think this could help 🚀 Follow for more tips on handling tricky people and situations at work #worktips #leadershipdevelopment #work #corporatelife #emotionalintelligence #difficultconversations #assertivecommunication #communicationskills #managertips #difficultpeople

that's why:
you never hand out full versions b4 the big reveal
you leave intentional mistakes in there for these colleagues (corrected in ur version only)

Asking an employee not to do something is reasonable, and ignoring it isn’t acceptable. A diluted conversation may not be the best way forward.

That person gets one chance to stop that behaviour or get fired. Learning to manage that is not an option.

It all boils down to not letting oneself being emotional, especially out of anger or sadness. Sometimes I like to pretend I’m Data, from Star Trek TNG. A gentle android, to sum it up

How do you talk to a weak manager who’s letting one member of the team avoid work causing the other two to take up the slack?

Don’t forget that managers will often take everyone else’s work as their own and never give credit to the team. Lead by example, not direction

I literally had to do this today. Person shared my work and tried to cut me out of discussions. He didn’t get it. I had to give him an example of me doing it to him for him to get it 🙄

What about a coworker you work with everyday tells you to be quicker, but then not so quick and to take your time. And not liking the way you do it and always offering ‘help’

I think I'd tell them that a pessimistic manager would be inclined to see said move as sly and that I'd hope that's not the case

you need to gain agreement on forward going actions. Put the ball in her court and request suggestions regarding boundaries. this is actually a serious confidentiality/loyalty breach
