I know you haven't read CC but when Bryce and Hunt become Mates there's no snap. Same with Ruhn and Lidia. I'm currently reading TOG so I have no idea if any of the them have mate snap.

I think of the snapping as there’s a rope or tie between them that’s loose but when it “snaps into place” it goes taught if that makes sense

Ok, but to bring up an additional point- when feyra was about to die UTM, there was a moment where her bond grew taut (idk the exact wording) to Rhys. Maybe that’s the human version? 🤷🏻♀️
