Let’s Talk Turkey! Mr Babs and I were joking around and thought we would share it with you. But seriously.....there are so many questions when making Thanksgiving. Even if you are a seasoned host. Most important tip I can give is....relax. It’s a turkey! As long as we are with the ones we love, we can’t cry over burned turkey. Here are a few of my tips. Get more in my Gooble Gobble Guide. Link in my bio. How to thaw a turkey? Begin one week before Thanksgiving Thaw in fridge Thaw one day for every 4 lbs Once thawed cook within 4 days How large of a turkey to buy? You want about 1.5 lbs per person for leftovers. What are giblets? Giblets are the heart, liver, and gizzard of the turkey. These parts should be removed from the turkey cavity before cooking. Some people use them for gravy, I do not. What can I do to prevent a dry turkey? I have a full run down in my cookbook, Celebrate with Babs, but here are a few tips: 1) I add baking powder to my salt and pepper mixture 2) I brush the turkey with avocado oil 3) And I place my roasting pan right on a hot pizza stone - makes for perfect turkey every time.
