I just wanted to quickly share what happened the other day, as I think it's a really important safety hazard every dog owner should be aware of. My dog, Kano & Cardi, were playing around earlier. As always, they were wearing their choker collar. In the process of them playing, Kanos tooth got stuck in the one of the chain links on Cardis collar. They were both threshing around like they were play fighting so I yelled at them to stop. Then I noticed Kano was stuck. I ran to the garage to grab the bolt cutters bc the only way to get this type of collar off is to slide it off her head and it was so tight on her neck that the bolt cutters were to big to slide down behind the collar. It was the scariest thing ive ever witnessed. She couldn't breathe good and they were both panicking. After 10 minutes of them stuck, and me trying to keep them calm (while I waited frantically for my husband to get home to help), Kano finally got his tooth out and was released. It took Cardi a minute or so to recover and to catch her breath. Of course her eyes were bloodshot and her nose was bleeding. This was the most scariest thing ever, to see your dog choking and there is nothing you can do to help but keep them calm. I just wanted to share my experience and hopefully prevent this from happening in the future. After visiting with the vet, both dogs are fine and are doing well. #dogsafety #tragedy #dogcollar #chokercollar #preventive #dogowners
