@kiki_astor: You might be surprised to hear what kind of hairstyle is authentically old money versus what is perceived as new money or even tacky… When I was growing up, young ladies of my generation were taught that spending a lot of time doing one’s hair was a waste of time and other than being taken to Jacques Dessange and then Frederic Fekkai for a regular haircut, my hair was never a concern… I know you’re going to say that you can tell, darling, and that new money hair is prettier than old money hair and perhaps you have a point… But I don’t make up the rules, I just report on them.
