We’ve got a new little patient here at the farm 🐾 Meet Braxton, a baby wombat who’s come in under pretty tough circumstances. He’s in that tricky in-between stage, not young enough to easily bond and trust humans, but not old enough to survive on his own without help. The story goes a farmer had seen a dead wombat in the paddock, likely shot 😔 About a week later he spotted what he thought was an echidna. Turns out it was this little bloke, all on his own and in rough condition. At his age he should still be on milk, but somehow he’d survived more than a week in the wild without his mum. That’s extraordinary, because a wombat this size without its mother’s protection is really vulnerable to foxes, eagles, dogs and all sorts of predators. Somehow this little Aussie battler pushed through all that adversity and found his way here to the farm 💚 When he came in he was skinny, missing a toenail, covered in ticks (one the size of a grape 🍇), and had definitely been through the ringer. Another carer had wrestled with him for a week, trying to get him onto a bottle, but he was having none of it, shredding teats, growling, ripping bottles away. Now he’s here at the hobby farm and I’m just coasting him in, trying to build trust slowly. He’s already putting on a bit of condition, nibbling on some food, and we’ve treated him for ticks, mange and a few other skin issues. It’s going to be a long road, but he’s a fighter. Ashlee was quick to step in and she’s proudly named him Braxton 🙌 Hopefully he comes around and we can give him the future he deserves. ONYA little mate! 🐾 #WildlifeRescue #Wombat #BabyWombat #NativeWildlife #WildlifeCarer
