I am posting this to show the fails and mistakes. The tough side of owner training at SD. Now, for a completely in detail explanation of what happened. Where the video starts off I noticed this dog, in the pet isle of our Dollar General and had to do a double take as it was not on a leash and was wandering away from its handler. I went to walk to the other side of the store and the dog saw Freckle and started to walk towards her, not knowing if this dog is friendly or not I ran to the other side of the store. From there I carefully walked up to the front cause I was going to check out, and they were by the check out, this dog was pacing not staying by its owner and not acting like a service dog. I went to carefully walk by them to another isle while I waited for them to either leave or go to another area of the store. The dog saw Freckle and tried to come up to her, Freckle has never had a reaction like this before to another dog, but her body language and eyes and whining told me she wanted to play. She may sound like she was being aggressive however, she was not by her body language. We will be taking a step back and working on some dog watching at our local dog park. Where she will not be allowed to interact fully or go in the dog park. To work on some neutral and focused responses to other dogs. She will be stepped back in PA, as this might also just be adolescence, she will still do SOME pa but no longer small enclosed NPF stores like our dollar stores as she does not have this issue in bigger stores or at parks. Me and a few other SD handlers that I showed this to believed this was a one off fluke because this was a new situation.
