WANT TO BUILD THAT UPPER CHEST SHELF? TRY THIS OLD-SCHOOL CHARLES GLASS FLY. If your upper chest is lagging, don't just keep adding weight to your incline press. Sometimes the answer is changing the angle, the grip, and the movement pattern. One of my favorite variations is the pronated incline fly. Set the bench to a slight incline and use a pronated (palms-down) grip. From there: 👉 Lower the dumbbells into a deep, controlled stretch. 👉 Keep a slight bend in your elbows throughout the movement. 👉 Don't let your arms straighten at the bottom. 👉 As you raise the weight, think about bringing your elbows together, not your hands. 👉 Imagine you're hugging a barrel as you contract. 👉 Finish by bringing your hands slightly over your head, keeping constant tension on the upper chest. 👉 Squeeze hard at the top before lowering under control. ⚠️ Don't go too heavy. This exercise is all about precision, stretch, and contraction—not ego. The exaggerated range of motion creates an incredible stretch across the clavicular (upper) fibers of the chest while minimizing shoulder involvement when performed correctly. Benefits of this variation: 🔥 Targets the upper chest shelf. 🔥 Creates an incredible stretch and contraction. 🔥 Improves mind-muscle connection. 🔥 Reduces shoulder dominance. 🔥 Helps build a fuller, rounder upper chest. Remember... Muscle growth comes from tension—not just weight. Slow every rep down. Feel the stretch. Own the contraction. That's how you build an upper chest that stands out. 💪 Join GOB Coaching and Transform Your Body. Learn the techniques that have helped build champions for over 40 years.
