My daughter's DJ was a work friend. He did have a formal contract, but was shocked we fed him and asked if he needed help tearing down his equipment. He was the best.

Had my FFIL DJ, I told him to play mostly live songs, things to ballroom dance to, jazz ect. He played top 40s all night. I hated it.

My sister's friend DJ had to be stopped from playing "The Thunder Rolls" by Garth Brooks and "Independence Day" by Martina McBride. For those not familiar, they're both songs about DV.

In 1992 we hired a friend. He was AMAZING. we asked him for some very specific odd songs (theme from the show "dinosaurs" for the kids. It was so much fun!

The audacity of them omg. We’ve got some friendors lined up but we’ve done stuff with them before and they’re very professional (thankfully)

This is why the best vendors to be friends are the ones that are done before the reception starts. florist, baker, tailor, etc are all safer because they can't mess up the wedding while it's ongoing.

I was taught by my grandma who threw the best parties to never use friends for parties. If they are your friend you will want them there as a guest. I think it's a great rule.

Never use a friend for a wedding day duty is the biggest absolutely knot! If you happen to have friends that could help with invitations sure why not but day of duties absolutely not!

Remember a verbal agreement is just as enforceable as a written contract. But always get it in writing

I agree sometimes having friends for a job at a wedding is not a great idea. Let them just be guests.
