🇿🇦Chidimma is 100% Miss South Africa I stand to present a compelling defense for the current Miss South Africa finalist, Chidimma, amidst the ongoing debate regarding her nationality. First and foremost, if you have a vicious dog but fail to exercise control over it, it can escape and harm people and other animals in the neighborhood. This negligence on your part makes you, the owner, liable for a fine or imprisonment should those injured take legal action. It is you, not the dog, who will suffer the consequences of its actions. Similarly, we cannot blame Chadimma or her parents for the shortcomings in our immigration system. 1. It is acknowledged that Chidimma’s mother may have been born in Mozambique and entered South Africa either legally or illegally. This, however, should not overshadow Chidimma’s own roots and identity. 2. Chidimma’s father, who may have been born in Nigeria and entered South Africa on a student visa, has not been naturalized as a South African citizen. Again, his status does not diminish the legitimacy of Chidimma’s place in South Africa. 3. While the immigration laws of the Republic of South Africa might not recognize Chidimma’s parents as naturalized citizens, this does not negate the fact of her own birth and upbringing within the borders of South Africa. 4. Chidimma’s past marriage to a Nigerian man, with whom she has a child, is a personal aspect of her life that should not cloud the assessment of her nationality or eligibility to represent South Africa. 5. Let it be emphatically recorded that Chidimma was born on South African soil. She took her first breath in this land, saw her first moon and sun in South Africa, bathed in South African waters, and received her education here. She believes wholeheartedly in her South African identity, abides by the laws of this nation, and has committed no crime against the state. Given these facts, there is no justification under the sun to deny Chidimma the right to represent South Africa in any event. Her life and experiences have been deeply intertwined with South Africa, making her as much a part of this nation as any other citizen. Let us celebrate her identity and contributions without prejudice, recognizing her rightful place as a proud representative of South Africa. #CapCut
