What plant should we listen to next?🌱🎶 🥹 Plants produce sounds through vibrations and movements. They respond to various stimuli, including light, touch, and sound. When plants are exposed to certain frequencies of sound, they may vibrate and produce faint sounds that can be detected by sensitive equipment. These sounds are often inaudible to humans and are typically at frequencies much lower than what we can hear. We’re using biofeedback to listen to the music plant leaves make! We put electrodes at two sides of a leaf and what happens is electrical signals are translated into different pitches (low/high notes). We can change the voltage and also choose which instrument we want the plant to play! This one was acoustic guitar. One way to do it is to divide the voltage range emitted by a plant and assign a pitch to certain voltages. Once the plant emits a specific voltage, you get a musical note. Some researchers have suggested that plants may use these sounds as a means of communication. For example, they may use vibrations to signal to nearby plants that they are being attacked by insects or other threats. While there is some interesting research on the topic of plants and sound, it is important to note that the idea of plants making music is still a topic of debate and is not widely accepted in the scientific community. But it is beautiful! What plant should we listen to next? 🌱💚 #howtowithjessie
