Oh, it’s not free. We’re paying for it they charge $3-$4 per drink. It’s called getting your money’s worth.

It started mainly because of a promo Taco Bell did with Pepsi I think in the 80s. They started it and other companies wanted to compete so they did it and now its mostly universal at a lot of chains

I'll have to remember if i travel to europe not to assume refills are free. Its the little things we Americans dont think about that make this place what it is. Next time when you go out, just ask if they have free refills when ordering. they will usually tell you which drinks have free refills, but if they dont just ask.

Even within America it's different. I took the family to Holiday World in Indiana and they had free drinks all through the park.

everyone complains about healthcare not being free here but we are responsible for our own health and the freedom to choose what we consume, we have limited to no restrictions on food production, portions, etc. making it the best country for consumers and companies a like.

Until the 90s there were places that charged like a quarter for a refill and some had a box by the drink machine for those quarters.
