Our baby girl is FIVE 🥹 A little story about our Harlow girl: We were “done having kids” when we found out we were pregnant. We were so scared and overwhelmed since this would be 3 kids in 4 years AND all before we even turned 30. Frankly, we were still figuring ourselves out in many ways! But our fear quickly turned into excitement and anticipation for our family to be complete with her by our side. Then, during one of our doctor’s visits I was told she may have Down syndrome. She tested positive through one of our genetic tests. Devin worked nights and I worked during the day, we didn’t even get to digest this information together as we spent most of our time apart and he was working when we found out. Shortly after trying to absorb that news we were told she also had a single umbilical artery. I had never even heard of this which made it even scarier. Essentially, they said it could affect how much nutrition she was getting and she could come out smaller or more malnourished than a normal baby. There were also other factors like digestive, kidney and heart conditions that she could be at risk for. I would say I spent most, if not all, of this pregnancy terrified at what was to come and knowing there was nothing I could do to help. Being a mother has brought me anxiety I never knew I had, mostly wanting to protect them and in this moment I couldn’t do anything which felt debilitating. During delivery it started so peaceful and she was quickly ready to come out and then her shoulder got stuck and we had a team rush in because they couldn’t get her out. I have never seen such fear on Devin’s face as he went from total happiness to completely terrified as doctors shoved him out of the way to help. Needless to say, this girl came into this world with a bang, there was a lot of chaos and fear. But thankfully, the tests were wrong and she was a healthy and happy little girl. She completed our little family and we truly cannot imagine life without her. We love you so much Harlow Grace 🤍🎀 I’m so proud and lucky to be your mama! #motherhood #nightbeforebirthday #kidsbirthday #kidsbirthdayideas #singleumbilicalartery #momof3
