@coach_mundy_: Replying to @Boqxx “Train everything standing up” is a great way to say “don’t get too strong”.. that’s all I’m getting out of that. Didn’t watch the rest of the video, so no clue what else was said. But “functional training” and “stop using machines” was enough for me. - PLEASE tell me how goblet squats are better than any other squat variation.. if you’re still doing Goblet squats and not getting underneath a pendulum, hack, or a smith machine for squats.. you don’t want quads fr. Again.. if YOU do GOBLET SQUATS.. YOU DONT want QUADS fr. - If you’re doing a standing shoulder press.. you don’t want better shoulders fr. - I barely touch free weights. I’m far more “functional” than any creator you hear talking about some “functional training”. Strength training is literally loading different muscle group functions. And if you want something to improve, you load those functions as effective as possible. - It’s 2025. Learn how to get stronger. None of what he showed is “functional”… because everything you do in the gym is functional. - Side note: you can’t train for “stabilizer muscles”… their job is to already stabilize… so that’s a weak point. If you want better **coordination**.. that is something that yes, you practice. But you can’t train anything to stabilize…#greenscreen #greenscreenvideo
I love goblet squatting 5% of the weight that actually challenges me!!!!

people after understanding that "stabilizers" are literally just the othet musles which you will train separately and not magical muscles that only appear to stabilize

This advice is for “athletes”. A barbell squat, standing press, barbell rows, etc transfers better to a sport than a machine counterpart. obvi machines have their place but lean towards free weights

I think he was at least partially right, machines don’t tend to develop stabilizing muscles. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve seen who have only worked smith machine bench have trouble with free

I train 95% on machines and I am more functional than any functional hybrid athlete I've ever come across

I did machine shoulder presses instead of military presses and now I can't put my bucket of protein powder on the top shelf because I lack functional muscles to raise 4 kg over my head

Definitely agree, only form of being “functional” in terms of athletes, that DONT correlate good with machines. Is balance and coordination. Other then that machines are top tier

Is it bad to use resistance bands on the hack squad to make the bottom part easier? It helps me a lot with my lower back pain but I wonder if it limits my muscle growth.

Bro he is right with the machines it help u stabilize and imagine u doing those workouts with nothing support ur back it hard . Machines make it easier so less energy u put

I do agree with the first guy to some degree, barbel squat is a functional movement comparing to Smith. he is not wrong to say sometimes you should do free weight.

Why don’t powerlifters follow a program similar to what most people here are doing wouldn’t it make more sense logically compared to their 5 RIR sets and everything?
