@turtlewithhat: For what it’s worth, 5 years ago we never would have thought that our videos would amount to anything. We just wanted an outlet to pass the time during quarantine. We don’t know how we got so lucky, to be able to build our community. It wasn’t easy, we were long distance and both of us were in the midst of finishing school. When we got together we always wanted to post; together, we liked connecting with others and making people laugh. Of course, we recognize that TikTok is just another social media platform, but nothing has ever made us feel so appreciated. It’s so hard for queer creators to find their community, and this online space is a place for us to all get together and just laugh. Something as simple as that. Something so simple but so important when the world is the way it is. We have endless gratitude for you all. Endless. We have learned so much from you. Luckily, we are fortunate enough to be able to continue being on the internet (Youtube, maybe Twitch), but we will certainly miss TikTok. It is so disappointing to see it all get erased for reasons that seem meaningless. However, this doesn’t mean it is the end. Turds, the memories we have and the opportunities that have come from this platform will never be forgotten. We’ve always wanted to be filmmakers together, and this app made that feel really tangible. We’re still going to be expressing our creativity anywhere we can, but it definitely feels like a loss. Thank you, from the deepest part of our hearts, for accepting us as we are, and for sticking around. You made us feel seen. As we hope we made you feel.
