Feel free to share your thoughts, concerns, or questions.Thank you for watching! @HaywardPoolProducts Heat+Chill Pump 140K BTU 240V Mod# HP31405T Hayward's new micro channel technology significantly reduces brazed joints by 85%, lowering the risk of refrigerant leaks. It features a titanium heat exchanger, a scroll compressor, and improved low ambient heating with a defrost control algorithm. There's so much to highlight, but it's definitely a well-made product. All manufactured Heat pumps achieve their maximum BTU output only when the outdoor temperature is 80°F, with 80% humidity and water temperature at 80°F. BTUs begin to decrease under those conditions. Here's the latest update from California. As of January 1, 2028, all new pool construction must use an electric heater instead of gas. And starting January 1, 2030, existing residential pools will also need to be equipped with an electric heater for both the pool and spa. In other words phasing out gas heaters to what is known as a heat pump. How does a swimming pool heat pump work? A swimming pool heat and chill pump operates by transferring heat to or from the pool water through a refrigeration cycle. In heating mode, the pump uses a refrigerant that absorbs heat from the air, evaporating in the evaporator coil and turning from liquid to gas. This gas is then compressed by a scroll compressor, raising its temperature and pressure. The hot gas moves to the condenser coil, where it releases heat into the pool water, warming it before condensing back into a liquid. After passing through an expansion valve, the refrigerant reduces in pressure and temperature, returning to the evaporator. In chilling mode, the process is reversed: the pump extracts heat from the pool water and releases it into the air, effectively lowering the water temperature. This efficient cycle allows the heat pump to maintain the desired water temperature while consuming less energy compared to traditional heating methods. #swimmingpool #hvac #california
