My old chihuahuas had that same hump on their backs that always needed work. Laser therapy and acupuncture also helped.

I’m sure you’ve thought about this but just incase 😅 I give my dogs little massages because I feel bad that they can’t tell me their pain, if it’s okay with vet it might be worth trying ❤️

My dog does the same thing when his glands are expressed by the vet. He’s the most gentle dog but the pain is too much for him so we muzzle

I feel like he lost some of the sensitivity to the area at least, he stopped flinching(in the back) after the first set of “pops”/adjusting! It’s amazing this can be done for animals

We did chiro and acupuncture for my Jakie too, super helpful for him and bought us a few more years. My doctor also suggested keeping his brain super busy to keep nueral pathways open.
