All our beds have been built this way, we found it really strong and have not warped or budge. I know that cedar can pricey but for us it’s worth it because they are natural, rot resistant, and can last for 10 years or even longer. WHAT WE GREW IN A YEAR We started with garlic late Fall, and by July they’re ready to be harvested. Early Spring under hoop cover, we direct sowed radish and spinach and also planted 3 cabbage seedlings. Because radish and Spinach are fast growing crops, they can be harvested within 30-40 days. By May these would have been already harvested making room for summer crops Late May is the time when our tomatoes and peppers go in ground in zone5b. When the tomatoes start to grow tall, we trim the bottom leaves allowing for sunlight to pass through. That opens up a spot for basil, parsley, mizuna, lettuce and or bok choy. Rotation is the key to maximize growing space, we keep a few spare plants in pots knowing that a spot will be available. When the season is over, it’s a good time to let your bed rest and rejuvenate the soil by applying cut up green leaves and stems, topped with manure/compost and dry brown leaves. The hoop cover is placed before the season begins which helps warm the soil for early planting. #gardentok
