We only put blankets on our old horses that are somehow still alive. And our really old bucking bull. But the other horses don’t get one

was always told a blanket was to keep them slick for rodeo riding or thoroughbreds racing. not for pasture horses or riding horses

Super controversial, but we have a big fluffy Clydesdale and he does have Cushing’s disease so he gets extra fluffy in the winter time so we don’t blanket.

I don’t blanket any of my personal horses. I have a Aqha mare and she’s very hot blooded. She stays in when the weather sucks but she’s never cold.

My horses have access to 2 shelters. I don't blanket them. However, if it's expected to rain/snow/or they will be wet at night with below freezing temps, I close their stall doors.

my 21 year old horse doesn’t even need a blanket. people do way too much. horses really don’t need them until they’re elderly or don’t grow a coat

I'm all for blanketing a naturally cold or clipped horse. but I really believe we over blanket horses as a whole

In Florida. If its going to stay below 45 for more then 4-5 hours. Our horses are not use to that weather

They put their sheets on at 50 then they get a lightweight at about 45 Ish then medium goes on at like 30 and heavy goes on at anything under 20° And then they get layered in the negatives
