keep a close eye on side preference. my baby's head flattening was dismissed as normal multiple times and it delayed his torticollis diagnosis for months. push for PT assessment just in case

im scrolling through a bunch of flat head videos because i too am very anxious. wondering if your baby’s head regulated itself? or did you need a helmet / referral? currently 2 months and noticing a small flat spot so we’re working on getting it back to normal with no helmet unless necessary

As someone whose baby had torticollis I could tell immediately that your baby looks like she has torticollis and plagiocephaly. I would ask for a referral to OT!!

Did her flat spot end up balancing itself out?

I was so so so worried because our babies head was SO rounded in the back and she has like a little cliff back there and I was telling my husband about bringing it up and he was like, “it’s literally

My daughter didn’t get her helmet until 8 months and I wish she had gotten it sooner. My advice would be to get the consult yourself from a PT if you cont. to feel a bit concerned about it! 🤍

My baby is wearing a helmet due to her torticollis. She was deemed very moderate to almost normal headshape but we did it anyway. sooo glad we did it and her head is nearly perfect now. It was a breeze. She hardly noticed it!

Also going to a chiropractor can help side preferences

A spot on one side is usually from Torticollis, it’s worth seeing a pediatric ot/pt about!

My baby’s head looks like that, shes 3 months old. I’m working on giving her more tummy time but I’m still laying her on her back at night. I noticed this video is from January, so your baby must be older now, did it end up correcting? How’s her head?

My son was the same way! They never mentioned him getting a helmet and you can’t even tell now that he had one. He’s 17 months!

My OB nurses told me to roll up a receiving blanket and when I laid her down tuck it under the shoulder and hip and keep alternating it.

brachycephalic, mesocephalic, and dolichocephalic. There is normal variation, and often times the face shape will indicate the type of skull shape your baby will have.

my baby spent the first week of his life in the nicu, lying down so his right side of the head looks just like that. the helmets are so expensive we do lots of tummy time and i always turn his head on the left everytime he lies down do you think one of those pillows will help?

My pediatrician said the same thing! My son prefers his left side while sleeping/laying down so I’ve been turning his head and doing tummy time more, I’m still worried about a helmet 😭

Same happened with my son at 2m. Doctor said to wait but I wanted to avoid a helmet. I requested PT and it helped since he had tension on side. 🙂

Going through the same thing with my 3m! Her hair is very similar to yours & it gives the illusion it’s flatter than what it really is. We’re seeing a chiropractor but they are not concerned yet!

Both my older kids had tiny flat spots, second one had less bc I wore him more. Both resolved when they started rolling like your Dr said!
