a lot of patients schedule themselves for the wrong appointment type so we end up calling them anyways. That’s why most offices don’t offer online scheduling

there are sooo many mistakes with self scheduling tho… ppl will schedule a 15 min appt online and come in wanting a physical and mad we dont have enough time 😭😭

I totally get this, but in the office I work in this would never work 😂 the system would tell you that our next available is in 6 months, but a human could find a spot in like 4-6 weeks 😂

YES and not even just for this reason, i’m chronically ill and super medically complex and i have a good 10+ doctors on my team and it’s so hard to find time to call them with the hold time+transfers

our office uses mychart. patients can do everything on there— including schedule but ONLY for same day office visits. no physicals etc 1/2

this and the dang paper forms from 2002 that have been copied so many times they’re illegible to most of our pts (we have mostly 50+ pt pop) 😭😭

We have the "HotDoc" app in Australia. You can look up all kinds of health professionals (primary care, dentist, physio, etc) and book an appointment. It's a one & done kinda app.

i sent an online scheduling request to an optometrist and then they emailed me back that they 1. had no availability and 2. I could call them.... so one week later I went to the walk in big-chain place instead

My GI doctor CLAIMS they have an online option and remind me of it 500 times while I’m on hold even though IT NEVER LETS ME BOOK ONLINE. It’s ridiculous.

Almost everytime I’ve used online scheduling, it’s not accurate. They’ll call me back and ask about a later date😭😭😭 so I just call anyways now.

I can imagine this would be difficult because the length of appointment depends on the appointment type. And if the patient schedules it wrong unknowingly it would be an issue
