@sophiemorrisofficial: I’ve been searching for a long time for a good swap for Nutella in the supermarkets! There’s some lovely artisan ones I’ve come across in health stores or markets but I hadn’t yet found one in a major retailer, so I was thrilled to find this one in Dunnes! What I’m looking for in a hazelnut chocolate spread is that it contains mostly hazelnuts, which this one does, because that’s what’s providing nutritional benefit. Like all nuts, hazelnuts are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytochemicals beneficial to health. Compared to other nuts, hazelnuts are one of the highest in fibre, the highest in folate, and are the second highest in vitamin E. Nutella, with its lovely picture of hazelnuts on the front, on the other hand only contains 13% hazelnuts which is a long way from being the main ingredient! Instead the main ingredient is sugar and the second ingredient is palm oil 👎 This visual I used in the video of what makes up a jar of Nutella is quite eye opening and I think is helpful to see it in that way to realise what it is! By mad coincidence a lovely follower happened to send me this visual today while I was in the middle of editing the video!! Hazelnut Chocolate spread is not an every day food, we all know that, but if your kids or you love Nutella then this hazelnut & cocoa spread in Dunnes is a really clever swap! By making this swap you’d be reducing the sugar intake from 56% sugar to 37% sugar which is a significant reduction! AND you’d be significantly increasing the amount of hazelnuts which add great nutritional value. I haven’t actually tried it yet myself although I did buy it when I saw it 😆 so will let you know what the kids think!
