I don't think it's some predestined mathematical formula. I imagine it's just that we forget history's lessons every couple generations.

I think it’s just the facts of generations. One generation will have a hard time, make things better, the next couple generations live good but forget lessons learned and then things get worse again.

I am not sure you "debunked" this concept. You point out that events are up to interpretation, which would apply to your views. Saw video where author says US focused. weather forecasts r science 😁

We live in a complex system called civilization that has layered levels of birth, prosperity & decline. We can not perfectly predict what happens, but there is a “rhythm” to history.

Some corrections: I don't recall the authors positioning this as a "wrecks the world" scenario. It was always US focused. Also, the economic events were precursors, not the climactic events.

I think it's more that it takes about 80 years for us to forget lessons history teaches

It’d be interesting if the high/low data points were laid out to see if there are any patterns. We need a math person to math on this asap

I dunno the market is all derivatives of collateral that could lose value quickly in a downturn. Not to mention AI will have a major impact on the economy in the next decade.

I think their idea of ‘recessive’ vs. ‘dominant’ generation archetypes has merit. A generation’s shared journey through time creates a unique collective consciousness.

Isn’t this model similar to Ray Dalio’s theory of economic cycles?
