@movability: Did you know your neck could be the reason youโre feeling dizzy? Your neck is more than just a support for your headโitโs a powerhouse of sensors and blood flow pathways that play a key role in balance. When something goes wrong in the cervical spine, it can throw off your bodyโs ability to keep you steady. Hereโs why: ๐ก Proprioception: The upper cervical spine (especially C1-C3) is packed with tiny sensors that tell your brain where your head is in space. If these sensors send mixed signalsโdue to stiffness, poor posture, or injuryโit creates confusion in your brainโs balance centers, making you feel unsteady. Blood Flow: The vertebral arteries run through your neck, supplying blood to the brainstem and inner ear. If neck dysfunction compresses or irritates these arteries, your brain may not get the blood flow it needs, leading to dizziness. Muscle Tension: Tight muscles like the suboccipitals or SCM (sternocleidomastoid) can affect both blood flow and the feedback your brain gets about movement. This tension amplifies the problem, leaving you feeling off balance. How can you tell the difference between cervicogenic dizziness and vertigo? Cervicogenic dizziness feels more like unsteadiness or a floating sensation, often linked to neck pain, stiffness, or posture. Itโs closely tied to neck movementโturning your head or holding your neck in a certain position can trigger symptoms. In contrast, vertigo causes a spinning sensation, often from inner ear issues, and usually isnโt related to neck movement. The good news? Cervicogenic dizziness is treatable! By addressing the root causesโwhether itโs joint dysfunction, posture, or muscle tensionโwe can help restore normal function and bring back your balance. ๐๐ผ If youโve been struggling with dizziness, itโs time to stop guessing and start addressing the real issue. Drop your questions below or book an assessment today to get to the root cause!

I knew it was in my neck!! I thought I had vertigo ( inner ear) but itโs on my right side and my shoulders / neck are always so tight! It feels like every few months I start having dizziness, but only when I lay on my right side or tilt my head too far to the right!

Does sleeping on your back cause this? I get headaches and dizziness throughout the night and in the morning when I first wake up.
