@genericartdad: I think Gentle Parenting finally clicked for me when I realized the overlap it had with therapy. 1.Emotional Awareness 2.Non-judgement 3. Validation 4.Long term growth focus. 5.Problem solving over punishment. It's not about complience. And sometimes that means it takes longer to see results. We have to sit with our discomfort of how other parents might percieve us. But doing things right takes time and energy. This will likely be the last new video I'll post on here. Thank you everyone for all of the support and community we've built on here!
A lot of people tend to confuse gentle parenting with permissive parenting

It is frustrating that how long it can take with gentle parenting vs authoriterian but when you slip and become authoriterian you feel so so bad.

I am struggling with my inner child (the one that was neglected and abused) in order to gentle parent and I’m by far the worst parent or the greatest but I’m doing my best! And learning new things.

Honestly I needed this. Gentle parenting is new to me. So this broke it down to where it just clicked

so everyone before gentle parenting was raised wrong yet you turn out to gentle parent. it will take at least a gen to find out if this is an effective method. our entire history vs one gen.

I need my kids to be able to make good decisions when I’m not by them. That’s gentle parenting.

I feel that at a basic level I sometimes just do not have TIME for gentle parenting! Like getting out the door for school like in this video. We don’t have an extra 20 minutes in the morning to sit…

there actually 4 types of parenting style. and what your referring to is permissive parenting, which could cause these problems. but not gentle parenting which falls in a different category 1/2

Common sense :
As new Dad I possibly misunderstood “gentle parenting” with Permissive, so it’s about controlling emotions & asking children to explain why their actions are wrong, so they work it out themselves?

This addresses one of my concerns, not so much with gentle parenting, but with my parenting in general of trying to teach my kid to be kind in a world where people don’t have to be kind back.

yes gentle parenting is actually having a conversation with your kids, asking the right questions to make them realize where they're right/wrong

I take a middle ground for both gentle parenting and 80s&90s parenting. I do my best to guide them without force until they cross a line or do something that would have a greatly negatively impact.

Compliance isn’t the measure of good parenting but it’s part of it. There’s a place for gentle parenting but just like anything else you need to adapt your strategy to the situation.

My favorite part of gentle parenting is when I’m so anxious and sayin “we have to get to school right now!” & my 5yo says “why?”& I realize I realize, “you’re right. I don’t know why. Let’s not rush.”
