As a person who works at Amtrak railroad is a hard and under appreciated craft. The money is good but it is not a good choice if you are big on family time. I’ve been railroading for 10 years

my dad was with Amtrak for 31 years! Started as a train attendant, chef,assistant conductor,conductor, then was a locomotive engineer for the last 21 years of his career! Top pay was 55 an hour in S.C

Passenger the way to go. I did 11 years in freight down in south Florida. Railroad industry pays well but its a tough industry to work in. If you know you know. I would never go back.
