Remember: you are not a bad owner for not getting a skunk. You are a responsible owner for choosing a pet that you know you can care for and will always want and love. I have ADHD and my new hyper fixation is skunks. I will research them, but will probably not get one. I have hyper fixated on hundreds of animals. The two that I know I can care for and won’t get bored of are marine life and mustelidae (the weasel family) they are special interests and obsessions. I want to get ferrets one day, and keep fish. I still do my 110% best for my two cats. I still love them. But I know I am mentally, physically, and financially able to care for them. Your pet will depend on you. If you know you can’t care for an animal and acknowledge that, it means you are a good enough pet owner to know your limits. That is an incredible thing. So many people impulse buy instead of doing research.
