most of these radios will say 20 to 30 miles but in reality it's one or two miles and general rule of thumb is line of sight.

You also need a license to transmit. Resetting doesn’t jail break it! You have to have a minimum of a Tech ham radio license to broadcast

Would be an FCC violation, those are ham radio frequencies which require a license, btw ham radio operators love to do T-hunt (transmitter hunt) every time you keep up they will close in on your location
