Wondering if your baby is too cold at night… and not knowing how to tell 🥺 I remember constantly checking my firstborn while he slept because I was scared I was doing something wrong. Here are a few signs your newborn may actually be cold at night 👇 • Cold chest or back (hands + feet are NOT the best indicator) • Restlessness or waking more often • Cool skin when you touch their tummy/back • Mottled/blotchy skin • They feel harder to settle even after feeding And here’s the BEST way to check your baby’s temperature at night: 👉 Feel the back of their neck • Cold neck = baby is cold • Warm neck = perfect • Sweaty/hot neck = baby is too warm A good rule to remember: 👉 Babies usually need ONE more layer than you are comfortable in. And one thing many first-time moms don’t realize: overheating is actually more dangerous than being slightly cool - which is why safe layering matters so much.
