Those books shouldn't even have an ISBN so a used bookstore shouldn't even take it. Mine didn't even take ex-library copies. Thrift stores may set a price but a bookstore shouldn't without the barcode

my 1st thought is it was probably donated by someone who wasn't the original owner i.e a parent who thought their kid just left behind some odds& ends that wouldn't know it's ff &the issues that cause

If you really have to- there are free book places where no money is exchanged that you could leave it at instead. But its shocking to think people are putting time & money into binding and leaving it!
